Face and Neck Skin Lift (Face-lifting)
Face-lifting is one of the most important surgical operations in the field of aesthetic surgery, and is frequently used as a synonym for the aesthetic face surgery itself. In the procedure of the surgical operation, sagging skin of the face and neck region is pulled tight along with the removal of its excess. So that the results of the surgical operation are as better and as permanent as possible, usually the face muscles’ membrane is also lifted (SMAS). This surgical operation belongs to the group of surgical rejuvenation treatments, with which a sagging and weary face is refreshed, by getting a new and more serene and brisk appearance. The surgical treatment in its aesthetic sense gives back and preserves beauty. The age limit for this surgical operation was formerly around the age of fifty, but today it has been moved back to the age near forties, because of the continuity in preserving the beauty and freshness of the face. Pre-operational treatment includes health condition evaluation by laboratory tests and ECG. The surgical treatment is usually performed under local intensified anaesthesia, but can also be done under general anaesthesia in according to the agreed procedure by anaesthesiologist and at the request of the patient. The patient stays for one day under the medical care at the in-patient clinic of the Polyclinic. Catguts are removed in a week, which is the period in when post-operative swelling and possible haematoma should decrease. The scar is found in front and at the back of the ear, after the surgical operation, and partly in the area of the hair root. The operator make efforst to fit in a part of the scar in front of the ear with anatomical wrinkle, and the one behind the ear and in the area of the hair root is properly disguised.
